Visitation for Dorothea F. Caffrey, 98, of Palatine, will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 1:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Mass at 2:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly, 80 W. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL. The Interment will be held privately.
Dorothea lived a wonderful life and was a devoted mother to five children, grandmother to five and great-grandmother to 10. She worked as an administrative assistant for Kirk School in Palatine for many years. After Dorothea retired from Kirk School, she worked part-time for Persin and Robbin Jewelers in Arlington Heights until 2010. When she moved to St. Joseph’s Home for the elderly almost 13 years ago, she received exceptional care from their dedicated staff.
Dorothea is survived by her 5 children, Anne (Terrence) Sheehan, of Centerville, Ohio, Kevin Caffrey, Georgia, Gerald (Maria) Caffrey, Kathleen Caffrey, and Brian Caffrey, of Robertsdale, Alabama. Five grandchildren, Erin (Zack) Ruef, Patrick (Katie) Sheehan, John (Jennifer) Sheehan, Sean Caffrey (Daphne), and Ryan Caffrey, and 10 great grandchildren, Jack Paulson, Kate Paulson, Connor Paulson, Laney Ruef, Aidan Sheehan, Nora Sheehan, Colleen Sheehan, Colin Sheehan, Claire Sheehan, and Caden Sheehan and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Francis Caffrey, her mother and father, Elizabeth and Peter Franz, and her two sisters, Agnes Brodhead and Madelyn Franz, and her two nephews Phillip Brodhead and Garret Broadhead.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated to Little Sisters of the Poor, 80 W. Northwest Highway, Palatine, Illinois 60067.
