Frank passed away on August 24, 2019. Born in Chicago in 1942, Frank was the son of the late Frank and Palma (nee Del Preto) Costabile.
Frank was a veteran of the U.S. military. He received the Good Conduct Medal for his service in the Vietnam War. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. Professionally, he founded the accounting firm Costabile & Steffens in 1978, which became a successful family business. After he transitioned from owner to part-time employee to begin a semi-“retirement” in 2009, Frank continued his dedication to the firm, going to the office almost every day to ensure that his clients and company had whatever was needed. Frank filled the room with his warmth and generosity. He gathered friends wherever he went and, importantly, kept these friends for life. His 50-year marriage to Joan was grounded in love, respect, and humor, and served as an example of what a loving marriage should be. Frank was always up for anything. Spending time with him meant lots of laughter, spirited discussions, fun, and adventure. He was a touchstone for so many. We are grateful for the generous love he shared with us all.
Frank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan (nee Cargola) Costabile; his sister, Angie and her husband Tony Concialdi; his 4 children, Frank J. Costabile and his wife, Stacey, Joe Costabile and his wife, Christine, Carrie Laurence and her husband Dan, and Kristi Costabile, Kelly and her husband Jon; his 14 grandchildren, Kyra, Frank, Karissa, Michael, Christopher, Isabella, Emilia, Alena, Cecelia, Kailee, Kyle, Joey, Jake, Benjamin; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Despite the considerable length of this list, please note that it is incomplete because it does not include the vast number of individuals whom Frank welcomed into his life and considered family.
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Frank or Frankie as my mom (Yolanda Montopoli) always called him. I have fond memories of the bantering witnessed between Frankie and my mom. What I know for sure is that there was a great deal of love and respect for each other. I’m sure this will continue in heaven. May he be Rest In Peace. Frank and Jan (Montopoli) Leone
I was sadden to hear of Frank’s passing. We both attended Austin High School together. I remember his playing on the Austin football team and helping Austin win the 1958 city title. Many years later he became my CPA and a good friend- he was a good man. Judge George Bakalis

I am greatly saddened by our loss of Frank. He was so good to me over the years as my trusted accountant. Please accept my condolences and my prayers for his peace in the loving care of our Lord.
The world has lost a very special person. Frank was always a gentleman and would be the first to help out family and friends. His children and grandchildren are a great testament of the love he nurtured and shared. All of us who knew him and were blessed to call him family were better for it. I (Bob) will no longer be able to look forward to our lunches and laughter. He will be truly missed but never forgotten.
My great Uncle Frank was one of a kind!!! My memories of him start when I was very young and he would take us to see my cousins Franky and Joey’s football games at Palatine high school!!! But even before that I’ll never forget him smashing my face in my birthday cake probably every birthday till I was at least 12 years old making him an intimidating character at the time!!! I found as I grew older he was doing it out of pure love and to toughen me up!!! He Touched so many people in so many aspects of life my uncle’s generosity was never ending!!! Even to the day he passed he came and saw his sister Angie and her husband Tony at their assisted living home every single Sunday making sure his sister was doing good!!! Heart second to none uncle Frank please continue to watch over our family!!!! You taught me a lot in life on how to test others and how to take care of family!!!! You will truly be missed uncle Frank!!!!
I will be forever grateful to Frank. He was a wonderful caring person and has been my accountant for almost 25 years. I remember his hardy laugh and wonderful smile. He helped me so many years ago when I was going through a tough divorce. He will be missed and my sincere condolences.
In the short time I knew Uncle Frank, he made a huge impression on me. Every time I saw him he had a huge smile on his face and would give me a big hug and a kiss! He was definitely a true gentleman and amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He ALWAYS made me feel like part of the family. He will be missed by so many people who love him. Rest In Peace Uncle Frank.
