Visitation for Margaret S. (Meg) Ahlgrim, nee Gillon, will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL. The Funeral Service may be viewed at Meg Ahlgrim’s Funeral Service.
Meg was born Nov. 5, 1941, in Butler, PA moving to Arlington Heights, Illinois in 1956 with her parents. She graduated from A.H. High School in 1959 and Elmhurst College in 1963. She passed away viewing the beautiful Silver Lake and the Sand Dunes.
She was the loving wife of Roger D. for over 60 years (1962); married July 28th according to family tradition: Meg’s Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Aunt. Rog and Meg have had many adventures (trips) and have enjoyed their retirement home at Silver Lake for over 20 years.
Meg was the caring mother of Douglas Roger of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Laura Kay (Tony) Reder of Shelton, Washington and Jeffrey Walter (Kristina) of Palatine, Illinois; grandmother of Jonathan (Elizabeth) Gwizdala; Cody (Aidalyn Alberto Noria), Casey (Trinity aka Beautiful Bald Eagle) Reder; David (Maya Anals Pujols Garcia), Richard and Lucille Ahlgrim and Matthew, Joseph (Cassidy Beran) and Emma Kay-Margaret Ahlgrim; great grandmother of William, Benjamin and Katherine Margaret Gwizdala; Haze Reder and Matthew Reder; sister of Kathleen (Walter) James of LaHabra, California.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Hugh W. Jr. (Jean) Gillon; parents, Hugh W. (Lucille) Gillon and in laws, Walter W. (Ethel) Ahlgrim.
Meg was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Palatine, 50-year member of Eli Skinner Chapter NSDAR and of Palatine Chapter #585 O.E.S. She was also a proud Cub Scout and Brownie leader.
Memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or to your favorite charity.
Meg was a wonderful and fun person. She cared deeply for her family and friends. She was “Mom” to many. She will be missed. May the Lord of the Resurrection give strength, comfort, and peace to the family.
Roger, Doug, Laura and Jeff we are thinking of you and your family as you celebrate the life of Meg. She cared deeply for her family and community. Anyone who helped decorator a Christmas tree knew her kindness and hospitality. She was an amazing person.
All the Members of Flora-Dale Condominium Association will miss Meg. Meg was always friendly and affable. the Ahlgrims were always thrilled to have children come over to visit Roger’s train set – what a delight! God Bless you, Meg, and RIP!
Meg was such a caring and giving lady and always treated family and friends with love. She always had a smile, no matter how she felt that day. Meg will truley be missed. Peace and Love to all the Family.

Greetings from Silver Lake! Jim and I have enjoyed our relationship with our neighbors Rog and Meg. She was a fellow flower, 🌺 bird and butterfly lover.
