Alfred J. Remus

Alfred J. Remus, age 101, passed away to Heaven on October 26, 2023. Alfred was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (nee Schoch) Remus. Loving father to the late Michael Remus; Leeann (nee Remus) Helminski, and William (Pam) Remus. Dear brother of the late Melvin (Doris) Remus, late Dorothy (Clarence) Sander, and the late Esther (Ed) Grape. Proud grandfather of Joshua Helminski. Cherished son of the late Fred and Emma (nee Beese) Remus. Beloved uncle to Dennis (Sarah) Sander, Kathleen (Todd) Campbell, Keith (Anita) Grape, Rosemary (nee Remus) Keenum, Terry (Neil) Grape, Joann (Gary) Gerdjikian, Brian Grape and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Alfred was born on March 15, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. He went to school in Arlington Heights, Illinois and was a proud graduate (1948) of Valparaiso University in Indiana. He married Barbara in 1959.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army in WWII. Alfred retired at the young age of 90 from his employer, Barrington Transportation. He was a devout, daily bible reading, Christian who loved God above all else and, in turn, treated all with kindness and love.

Alfred requested to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine.
