A Memorial Visitation for Alice M. Terrill, 99, of Buffalo Grove will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Service, 2:00 PM on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Long Grove Community Church, 1110 Robert Parker Coffin Rd, Long Grove, where she has been a member since 1983.  The Interment will be private.

Alice was born on June 3, 1917 in Evanston, IL to Edwin S. and Anna J. Nordberg and passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at her home.

Alice graduated from Evanston Twp. High School in 1935 and from North Park College in 1937.  She first worked as a dental assistant in Evanston and then for the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights.  First as a neighborhood columnist writing “New About Palanois Park” and then eventually becoming the first editorial office manager.  After her husband, David W. Terrill Jr’s passing in 1982, she wrote his column, “Just Dogs” which she continued writing until 2008.  In 1987, when women were first allowed to become members of Lions Club, Alice joined the Long Grove chapter.  She served as Lions president and was the first Sunshine Chairperson for Lions District 1F.  She received a Foundation Fellow of Lions of Illinois and a Melvin Jones Fellowship from Lions International.  In addition, she was a 50+ year member of the Order of The Eastern Star (Palatine Chapter #535).  Her other memberships included: Phi Alpha Sorority in Tyler, Texas, life member of North Shore Dog Training Club, Northwest Obedience Club and a life member of LPCCI.

She is survived by her son James E. Terrill; grandson C. Daniel Terrill; granddaughter Rebecca Jones; great granddaughter Jayda; cousin Alice Nilsson and her dear friend  Joy Jacoby.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Ann Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long Grove Community Church, Lions Club of IL Foundation or Kay’s Animal Shelter, Arlington Heights.
