Alyssa “Princess” LeeAnn Matney, 18, passed away November 19, 2022, at home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born June 1, 2004, to Marty Matney Sr. and Angela Matney.
Alyssa lived more life in her 18 years than most do during a full lifetime. Alyssa loved spending time with family and friends, often taking hundreds of selfies on anyone’s unattended cell phone. She blossomed from a shy little girl into the beautiful and outgoing sassy girl through gymnastics, dance, cheer, modeling and appearing in commercials.
Alyssa excelled in school as a straight A high honor student. She was in competitive cheer for LZMSN Wolves, ICE, Lake Zurich Flames, AF1 and Ultimate Athletics. She practiced in the family room and on the back of the tow truck for hours to perfect her routines. Cheer meant everything to her. Alyssa was an active member of the Lake Zurich Community and especially enjoyed being a Jr. Cheer Coach with the Lake Zurich Flames to local kindergarteners.
Alyssa is survived by her parents; Marty Matney Sr., Angela Matney, two brothers; Marty Matney Jr. and Austin Matney, her “Other Mother”; Veronica (Don) Paugel; Aunts and Uncles; Dawn (Pete) Maldonado, Terry Neally Jr, Robert (Rachel) Neally, Amanda (Joe) Diaz, Kathy (Cliff) Clayman; Grandmother; Carol Gonzales, many cousins, extended family and so many friends.
She was proceeded in death by her grandmother; Bonita (Bonnie) Smith and her grandfather; Terry Neally Sr.
