A Memorial Visitation for Arlean Ruth Baehr, 89, will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 1:30PM until the time of the Memorial Service, 3:00PM at Tamarack Independent Living, 55 S. Greeley Street, Palatine, IL 60067. The Interment will be private.
Arlean passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Arlington Heights, IL. She was born on December 25, 1926 to the late Alfonse and Olga (Gabriel) Brandt in Wells, Minnesota. She attended the Wells-Easton High School in Wells, MN and graduated class of 1944. She was a 25 year resident of Arlington Heights at which time she retired with her husband to Wautoma, Wisconsin. She was married to the late Donald O. Baehr on May 10, 1951.
She was employed as a secretary for 12 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect and for 12 years at R.J. Schmitt and Associates Real Estate Appraisers.
Arlean loved to sew, craft, and cook. She was active in Quilt Guild and loved making baby quilts for the newborns at her church. She also volunteered at EAA in Oskosh, Wisconsin for 20 years in the kitchen, many times serving up to 500 people at one meal.
Arlean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Baehr and loving son James Baehr.
She is survived by her son, John (Tricia) Baehr and daughter Jayne (Ray) Schmitt as well as her 6 grandchildren, Birke, Brandt and Bailey Baehr, Nicole (Benjamin) Joseph, Bradley (Christina) Schmitt, Mallory Schmitt and her great-granddaughter, Charlotte Schmitt, all of whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Arlean would be appreciated for JourneyCare Hospice at Northwest Community Hospital, 9 East, 800 W. Central Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
