Barbara Carr

A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL, on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 12 Noon. The Interment will follow at Irving Park Cemetery, 7777 Irving Park Road, Chicago. A luncheon will follow at Edelweiss restaurant across from the cemetery.

She was born on October 12, 1935, in Chicago Illinois. Barbara was the loving mother of William Adam (Carrie) Carr, and dear grandmother of Caitlyn Elayne and Madelyn Suzanne Carr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Suzanna Dorothy, and Frances Marie, and former husband, James Edward Carr.

Barbara was raised on the Northwest side of Chicago. She enjoyed friends at Falconer Elementary and Foreman High School as well as summer trips to Wisconsin with family and watching the Saturday Movie serials of Roy Rogers and other singing cowboys.

After school she was a secretary at Corn Products in downtown Chicago in the mid-late 1950's and laughing and dancing with friends at the Sunset Lounge.

She married in May 1960 and gave birth to her son in November 1962; she kept working in offices all over the Northwest side as a "Kelly Girl" including long stints at Stewarts Coffee and WGN-TV.

Barbara was always a fan of country music, her favorites being Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. She spent 10 years in Augusta Georgia being close to her sisters and nephews there. She returned to Arlington Heights in 2010 watching her granddaughters grow and graduate school in Barrington IL.

Her retirement years were spent enjoying line dancing with new friends and visits with family.
