Barbara R. Karavas

Visitation for Barbara Ryan Karavas, 80, will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass, 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 455 N. Benton St., Palatine.  The Interment will be private.

Barbara was born on June 19, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Philip and Irene Ryan.  She was raised in Rogers Park and a graduate of St. Scholastica High School.  Barbara raised her family in Arlington Heights before retiring in Elgin and Bradenton, Florida.  She passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Belmont Village in Buffalo Grove.

Barbara is the beloved wife of the late William Karavas.  She is survived by her children, George (Pamela), William (Nancy) , Mary Karavas, Karen (Mark) Pogalz; grandchildren, George (Lisa), Jessica (Dave), Christine, Emily (Dan), William, John, and Edward; great-grandchildren, Carter and Brooklyn.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Robert Ryan.
