Visitation for Carl Otto Hey, 96, will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:30p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL. The Interment will be private.
Carl was born in Chicago and attended New Trier High School. After graduating he commenced onto two years of college at Navy Pier Campus where he was an esteemed member of the wresting team. Upon completion of college, he enlisted in the United States Army and earned the rank of Sargent.
Throughout his academic and military achievements and for many years thereafter, Carl was diligently employed at a prominent landscaping company in the Northshore area of Chicago.
Carl then entered into and retired from a dedicated career at Illinois Bell in Arlington Heights. He started off as a hardworking, dependable lineman and then he advanced to the responsibility of foreman for the outside cable technicians. Having a strong work ethic, Carl continued onto a 25-year position as a school bus driver for District 211 William Fremd High School. He carried high hopes for all the students he delivered safely to and from school and was befriended by many.
Carl’s hobbies included fishing, gardening, bicycle riding, playing golf, working on household projects and interacting with their dogs. He had an enthusiastic appreciation for nature and all living creatures and enjoyed it all on a daily basis.
Carl is preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, his adored aunt and his cherished grandson.
Carl is the devoted and forever enamored husband to his beautiful wife and best friend of over seven decades. Carl is survived and dearly loved and respected by his son and namesake, his 3 daughters, 2 son-in-law’s, 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.
