Carol was born on July 28, 1935, to Thomas and Florence Coleman.  She passed away on May 2, 2024.

Carol grew up in Chicago in the Six Corners area. Her father was one of the youngest of ten children. Many of her aunts and uncles lived in close proximity to each other, a close family, and she relished her childhood with all her cousins and sister. Some of her fondest memories are of her Aunt Mary taking all the kids to Riverview for 2 cent day, people always around or stopping by for coffee, conversation, and laughter around the kitchen table. She cherished large holiday gatherings with family traditions.

Carol attended Immaculata High School and graduated in 1953.

Carol started working at Warwick Manufacturing Corporation in Chicago where she met her husband, Kent. They were married in 1960.

They started a family in 1962, living in Des Plaines before moving to Winston Knolls in Hoffman Estates in 1969.

Carol was a homemaker who loved her house, family, entertaining, baking, and crocheting making numerous Afghans for family and friends.

She loved traveling on extending family vacations, for Kent’s WW2 reunions with the 401st Bomb Group, and to Austria with the Lutheran Choir for the Christmas European Tour Concert.

After her children were mostly grown, she returned to work at A.O. Smith Harveststore for 10 years and then District 211 Administration building in Palatine where she retired from.

Carol always had a sparkle in her eye, a helping hand to lend, encouraging words for you and would always tell everyone as they were leaving to, “Carry on."

Carol was the beloved wife of the late, Kent Locke Sr., loving mother of Deborah (the late James) Locke-Walsh, Kent (Ann Marie) Locke, Jr, Christine Locke, Tim (Brenda) Locke; and cherished grandmother of Olivia, Claudia, Dane, Nicholas, the late Rachel, the late Kacie, Allison (Joel) Clendenin, and Carly.  She is also survived by numerous loving cousins, friends, neighbors and health care workers.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jeanine Pickell.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warriors or the Charity of your choice.
