Charles Wesley Lennon, 82 of Palatine, IL passed away at his home on August 8th, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his father Eric and mother Hazel and his loving wife of 48 years, Una Rose Lennon.
Charles was born September 17, 1930 in Burlington, IA. He grew up in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago on the edge of Winnemac Park and attended Amundsen High School.
He proudly enlisted in the United States Army at age 20, serving his country during the Korean War from April 1951 to January 1953. He left active duty as a corporal subsequently transferring to the U.S. Army Reserves for 3 years – completing his military duty with the rank of Sergeant.
Sonny, as his oldest friends knew , was on the cutting edge of the corporate computer revolution during his service and after leaving the military. He completed his computer career as a Computer Programmer / Systems Analyst for Union Oil of California (formerly Pure Oil Company) and retired on July 1, 1993 with over 26 years of service.
Charles is survived by his sister Patricia Zugehar; son, Cory Todd (Marcia) Lennon of Overland Park Kansas and daughter Tracie Renee Lennon of Shelbyville Kentucky.
