Daniel G. Plackmann

Visitation for Daniel G. Plackmann, 80, of Palatine, will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service, 12:00 p.m., at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.  The Interment will be private.

Daniel was born November 21, 1935 in Washington, Missouri, and he passed away, Friday, January 1, 2016 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Daniel is a veteran who served in the USAF, 868th Tactical Missile Squadron in 1955.  Following his service, he graduated from the University of Missouri and received his bachelors and masters degrees in chemical engineering in 1961 and 1963, respectively.  Upon graduation, he worked as a chemical engineer at UOP for 36 years until retirement in 1999 which included many assignments abroad.

Daniel was a member of both the Tau Beta Pi- Engineering Honor Society and the Instruments Society of America, serving as President of the Chicago Section from 1988-1989 in the latter.

He was the beloved husband of Kimiko (nee Nakano) Plackmann of 47 years, loving father of George and John (Sayaka) Plackmann; loving grandfather of Emi, Kent and Kai Plackmann; dear son of the late William and Wilhelmina (nee Webbink) Plackmann; fond brother of William and sister of the late Anna.
