David C. Stallman will be cremated and his ashes will be buried along with those of his dear wife, Doris, at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill. At his request, there will be no funeral services.
David was born December 21, 1929, in Southeastern North Dakota, passed away September 14, 2014.
He farmed with his family until March 1951 at which time he entered the United States Marine Corps for three years and spent a year in the Korean Conflict. He came back to North Dakota in 1954 and attended University of North Dakota and received his degree from the University of Minnesota. He worked as budget director for Foley Manufacturing for five years. He was active in Junior Achievement in Minneapolis.
In 1963 he co-founded Spartanics Limited in Rolling Meadows, IL, where he was general manager until 1987. He was treasurer of the Palatine Chamber of Commerce from the late ‘60s to mid ‘70s. He was treasurer of the Northwest Suburban chapter of the American Cancer Society from the mid ‘70s to early ‘80s. He served as treasurer for Spartanics until 2005. At that time he was instrumental in selling the firm to selected employees.
David’s survivors include, his children, Kimberly (Duane) Mertel, Kara Lotito and John Krueger; grandchildren, David (Marcie) Krueger, Stacey (Mark) Mays, Kristin Mertel, Jennifer Mertel, Michael Mertel, Lauren Lotito and Tyler Lotito; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Benjamin and Samantha Krueger and Braelyn Mays; and brother, Roger (Marilyn) Stallman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. (nee Bush) Stallman; parents, John F. and Louise (nee Klosterman) Stallman, and his brothers, Thomas, Daniel, and Verne Stallman.
