David G. Gumm

A Memorial Visitation for David G. Gumm, 80, will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, also at the funeral home.  The Memorial Service will be streamed at Mr. David G. Gumm’s Memorial Service. The Interment will be privately held at Randhill Park Cemetery in Arlington Heights.

David was born on May 4, 1942, to the late Rev. Glenn and Margaret Gumm.  He passed away at home on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

David worked the majority of his adult life as a proud Union Laborer LiUNA Local 1.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, canoeing or kayaking and gardening which brought him great joy when he could share the bounty of his labors with family and friends. An avid collector he was an active member in many clubs CCC, HCC, ANA, and EAC.  During retirement he spent many Wednesdays and Saturdays as a volunteer for Habit for Humanity Spring of Life partnership, leading many novice workers to do things the “right” way.

David was the beloved husband of the late Sandra M. Gumm; loving father of Melissa J. Gumm and Julie Cheatwood; dear grandfather of Aaron and Aiden Cheatwood; brother of the late William (Ingrid) Biegler and Ruth Waukau.
