Donald F. Stirn

Visitation for Donald F. Stirn, 90, of Arlington Heights, will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 11:30 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 121 N. Douglas Avenue, Arlington Heights, 60004. The Inurnment will be private.

Donald was born August 13, 1934, in Chicago, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, December 16, 2024, in Arlington Heights.

Donald was the beloved husband and best friend of Dayle P. Stirn (nee Olsberg); loving father of Donny, Margie, Steven, (all deceased), Matthew (Annemarie), Paul, Brenna (Bill) and Mary (Steve); grandfather of Franklin (Taylor), Rylee, Tim, Zak, Jake, Josh, Madelyn, Lily, Maggie and Sara; great-grandfather of Harper and Maverick; dear son of the late Raymond and Esther (nee Schrodrof) Stirn; fond brother of the late Kenny, the late Jimmy and Joan; special uncle of Marcy, Barb and Shari.

Donald was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea and was a sheet metal worker all his life until his retirement in 1994. He coached little league and travel teams as well as the Downers Grove Junior Football Team. He started the WAA – Woodbridge Athletic Association men's over 30 baseball league in 1979. In 2007 to 2018 he was active in Lockport Senior Bowling Leagues and was proud of his 300 game he bowled on March 28, 2011. A proud White Sox Fan all his life; in his later years, he was an active Pinochle Player at the Palatine Senior Center. Also, he enjoyed playing Sequence and Dominos with many friends through the years.
