Donald W. Anstedt

The Memorial Visitation for Donald W. Anstedt, 81, a 43 year resident of Palatine, will be held on Don’s 82^nd birthday, Friday, January 23, 2015 beginning at 4:00PM until the time of the Memorial Service, 8:00PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  The Interment will be private.

Born on January 23, 1933 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Paul and Amanda (nee Rateike) Anstedt and passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Arlington Heights, IL.

Prior to the retirement in 2001of Don he had worked for 44 years as an electronics engineer for Concrete Technology Labs of Skokie, aka Portland Cement Research.  Throughout the early years of Don’s employment he was actively involved with the implementation of the computer into the daily work routine.  He was also an original member of a small computer organization that Bill Gates was a part of in the early years of computer development.  Don also served in U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Don was the beloved husband of 44 years of Nancy (nee Fortunato) Anstedt; dear brother of Corrinne (Edward) Strunk and the late Paul Anstedt, Jr.; also survived by his sister in law Elaine Anstedt and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated, in memory of Don, for the American Heart and Stroke Association, Greater Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL  60674 or the National Aphasia Association, PO Box 87, Scarsdale, NY 10583.
