Edward “Ed” Young

Memorial Visitation for Edward “Ed” Young, 90, formerly of Lake Zurich, will be from 12:30 PM until the time of the Memorial Service, 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 47 Church St., Lake Zurich.

Ed passed away on September 23, 2017.

He was the beloved husband of the late, Nora Young; cherished father of Melanie (Rick) Collard and Julie (Paul) Vormittag; the adored grandfather of Josh (Jessi Lee) Vormittag, and Jessica Dawn Vormittag; the proud great-grandfather of Jasmin and Brianna Vormittag.  He is also survived by his siblings, Gene (Audrey) Young, Al (Linda) Young and Delores (Rudy) Wrublick; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Freeman (Eleanor) Young.

Growing up in Chicago, Ed was an Eagle Scout.  At 17 years he joined the US Marines where he served strong and proud during WWII.  He then served as a Scoutmaster, and on the Zoning Board of Appeals.  He was a 52 year lifetime member of the Lions Club.  Ed was a member and Deacon of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.  His three greatest loves were his family, his God and his Community (Lake Zurich).
