Edward E. Nelson

Memorial Visitation for Edward E. Nelson, 82, of Palatine, IL, will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Inurnment will be private in Randhill Park Cemetery, Arlington Heights.

Edward was born May 17, 1942, in Oak Park, and passed away January 17, 2025, in Barrington.

Edward was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. Nelson (nee Myers); loving father of Dr. Carrie (Neil Harnen) Nelson and Kim Rouse; loving grandfather of Jaimee (Jimmy) Thomsen, Jeffrey (Jaci Reck) Nankervis, Lee (Kristin) Nankervis, Emily Rouse, Wesley Nankervis and Mary (Steven) Weisheit; fond uncle of Heather (Cody) Peterson and Chris Nelson; dear son of the late Herbert and Mary (Nee Straub) Nelson; fond brother of Neal Kent (Joanne) Nelson and Ragnar William (Libby) Nelson who preceded him in death. He also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren.

Ed was a tradesman all his life with exceptional craftmanship in trim carpentry. He was a proud Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam era and trained with the Underwater Demolition Team, precursor to the Navy Seals. He enjoyed grilling, gardening, spending time in nature and most of all, being with family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated to either JourneyCare Hospice or Little City.
