Elaine J. Lies

Visitation for Elaine Josephine Lies, 94, of McHenry, will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. Family and Friends will meet directly at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, on Friday, August 16, 2024 for the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. The Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.

Elaine was born on March 19th, 1930 to John and Tekla Rutkowski in Chicago, and ascended to heaven on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

She is survived by her sister, Joan and brother, Arnold (Jan). Beloved mother of Carol (Robert), Celine (Randall), Cynthia (Scott), Robert (Barbara), Susan (Daniel), and Karen (Mark). Loving grandmother of Kimberly, Elizabeth, Stacey, Thecla, Anthony, Autumn, Samantha, Ursula, Michael, Angela, Leah, Christopher, Bradley, Wesley, Kristine, Jessica, and Daniel. Doting great- grandmother (Grandma GG) to Mackenzie, Isidora, Asher, Emma, Nickolas, Annalies, Jackson, Ava, Mya, Leah, Audriana, Caleb, Levi, Aurelia, Izabella, Sophia, Vincent, Mia, Haylie, Addison, Ethan, Bryce, Landen, Blake, Jaxon, Blake, Mason, Stella, Easton, and Gianna.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 59 years, Robert, and brothers, Jack and Donald.

Elaine led a busy life engaged in her work, whether at United Airlines (1968-1987 retirement) or through building her own business. She showcased her passion for flowers and the bridal industry by owning Elaine's Floral Expressions in Palatine, Wedding and Party Flowers in Lake Zurich, Barbarella's in Merritt Island, Florida, and finally Forever Flowers in Summerfield, Florida. She volunteered at St. Theresa in Bellevue as a Eucharistic Minister and assisted with the Angels on Request in her Del Webb community. Elaine recently moved back to Illinois and enjoyed her retirement playing Sudoku and Dominos, and staying active in the lives of her family. Elaine cherished spending time with her family and friends. She will be loved and remembered fondly by her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
