A Memorial Visitation for Elaine P. Staples (née Altmann), 84, of Island Lake since 2007 and formerly of Lake Zurich, will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. Private Inurnment will be held at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville at a later date.
Elaine was born on March 2, 1940, in Chicago, and passed away on July 9, 2024, in Island Lake, at home.
Elaine was a beloved member of her community and family. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard E. Staples (1992) and the loving mother of Jill (Martin) Sloan, Tracey (Steve) LeSeur, and Scott (Denise) Staples. She was also the cherished grandmother (Nonnie) of Kristine LeSeur Hamill, Brian LeSeur, Emily LeSeur, Taylor Worden, and Joshua Sloan, and a loving great-grandmother (Nonnie) of Hunt Hamill, Shayla LeSeur, Cameron Hamill, Kayden LeSeur, and Wrenley Worden.
Elaine was the dear daughter of the late Peter and Sophie (née Rynchlinski) Altmann. She was a fond sister of the late Lorraine Dahm, Marilyn Baseley, and Paul Altmann. She is survived by her brother Peter Altmann and sisters Suzanne Spooner and Monica Kalb.
Elaine, a cherished member of our community, passed away peacefully. She was a devoted family member and friend, whose love and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Elaine had a special place in her heart for Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings, where she delighted in the company of her loved ones. Her joy in life extended to sharing good times and good cocktails with friends, making every moment memorable.
Elaine's career as a bus driver was more than a job to her; it was a calling. She took pride in her role, especially in working with the parents and children who rode her bus. Elaine had a unique talent for guiding and supporting her kindergarten kids, helping them navigate their first experiences on the bus with kindness and care.
Elaine's legacy of love, dedication, and joy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. She leaves behind a community forever grateful for her contributions and the countless lives she touched.
