Elaine Virginia Lencioni (nee Menconi) passed away peacefully in her home in Palatine, Illinois, on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the age of 90 years. While always known as Elaine, she was born Elein Menconi in Chicago, Illinois on March 19, 1924, the only daughter of the late Fiore and Annette Menconi who had immigrated to the United States in the early 1900’s from the area of Lucca, Italy. During World War II, she worked in administration for the US Army in Chicago.  She married her beloved husband, the late Mario Lencioni on January 23, 1944 and they remained together until his passing after nearly 50 years of marriage.  Their marriage produced three children; Kathleen, Richard and Janet.  Elaine was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended services.  Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Mario, in 1993 and by her brothers, Lawrence, Fiore Jr., Arnold and David.  She was also preceded in death by her loving companion, Zigismund Kraska (Ziggy), who was with her for the past several years of her life and who made those years very happy for her.  She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well by all of her friends and relatives.

The Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067.   Prayers will be said Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, Palatine, and the funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, 1201 E. Anderson Drive, Palatine, IL 60074.  Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Rainbow Hospice Care and to Vasyl who was Elaine’s caregiver in the months preceding her passing and who was there until the very end.
