Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Buckles

A Memorial Visitation for Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Buckles (nee smith), 76, of Palatine since 1974, will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 12:30 PM until the time of the Memorial Service, 1:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.

Elizabeth passed away peacefully in her home, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 and was born August 31, 1939 in Lakewood, Ohio.

As a young girl, Betsy loved camping in the Allegheny Mts. with her family.  In later years, with a family of her own, she enjoyed returning to Allegheny starting her children’s life long love of nature.  Sewing was a big hobby of Betsy’s.  She created clothing for everyone in the family, as well as herself, throughout the years.  Betsy enjoyed everyone she met through the Northshore Birding Club, The Barrington Natural History Society and the Illinois Orchid Society.  Betsy was also a member of the DAR and Girl Scouts.

Beloved wife of the late John Irving Buckles, loving mother of David (Emmy) Buckles, Eleanor Buckles and the late John Fairbanks Buckles; loving grandmother of Molly and David Buckles; dear daughter of the late Chester and Eleanor (nee Houston) Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society, 100 Tristate International, Lincolnshire, IL 60069.
