Elizabeth J. Taglieri

Visitation for Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Taglieri, 87, of Kildeer, will be held at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home of Lake Zurich on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Zurich with Father David Ryan officiating.

Betty passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.  She was the wife of Albert Taglieri, and they shared 52 beautiful years of marriage together.

Born in Dubuque, IA, she was the daughter of Bessie Burke Powell and Henry Dement Powell.  Her mother passed away when Betty was a very young girl, and Clara Barrett helped her father raise Betty and her siblings.  She was a graduate of Marymount College, class of 1972, and later earned both her Master of Science in Education Degree and Doctorate in Education from Northern Illinois University.  

Betty enjoyed life to the fullest, and always saw the best in everyone.  She was a wife, mother and grandmother first, but was also a teacher, coach and mentor to hundreds.  Her passion for teaching never diminished even after retiring from 35 years of service.  She will always be remembered for her caring heart and loving soul.

She is survived by her loving husband, Albert; beloved children, Ron (Barb), Robyn (Ward); 5 cherished grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Benjamin, Ryan and Gavin; two sisters, Mary Seitz and Helen Doty; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nanny Clara Barrett; brother William Powell; and sister Patricia Powell.
