Elizabeth Lorraine Skoien, 19, of Inverness departed this world on October 14th, far too soon. Visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Wednesday, October 25th from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Services, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. A memorial service will be held on October 26th, at 11:00 am in The Chapel at Willow Creek Church, 67 Algonquin Road, South Barrington. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
Elizabeth was blessed with incredible intelligence, extraordinary beauty and a wicked sense of humor. She had poise beyond her years and a smile that lit up a room. During her short life she gave far more than she took from the world both caring for her ailing mother and helping raise her infant sister. She loved and easily bonded with every child she met. Elizabeth was a superb artist and was gifted with a beautiful voice. Her lovely appearance was often enhanced by her intricate makeup creations which she coordinated with a holiday, special occasion, or outfit.
She was an avid swimmer and certified scuba diver. She shared her father’s love of birds, wildlife and travel. She had taken trips to all seven continents; she went diving in the Great Barrier Reef and the Galapagos Islands, went on safari in Tanzania, and took a polar plunge in Antarctica. She was a 2022 graduate of William Fremd High School and was studying to become a marine biologist at the University of San Diego.
Elizabeth is survived by her adoring father Gary Skoien; brothers Lincoln and Winston; sister Victoria Lagattolla; loving “Auntie” Dawn Skoien; cousins Lindsay (Rob) Peeler, Kristi (Matt) Bernardi, and Bethany (Tyrone) Stephens; and her mentor and cherished friend Kelly Guinaugh.
The entire family is devastated and our lives forever altered by the loss of this precious and remarkable young lady.
She is preceded in death by her mother Eni Lagattolla.
