Funeral Services and Interment for Emery L. Mollenhauer, 84 of Wheeling, formerly of Round Lake, will be private.
Emery was born March 17, 1931 in the City of Chicago and passed away peacefully on March 15, 2016 in the Lexington Nursing home in Wheeling.
Emery was the beloved husband of B. Jean Mollenhauer (nee Timm); loving father to Deborah Christensen and Renée (late Thomas R.) Piazza; loving grandfather of Julie Purcell, Barak Schmidt, Traci (Joseph) Loftus, Michael Purcell II; loving great-granddaughter to Darlene Krikie, as well to Chase, Gavin and Makayla Loftus. He was the dear son of the late Paul and Elsie (nee Albrecht) Mollenhauer; fond brother to his late sisters, Charlotte Stole, Lillian Fyfe and Lydia Anton (twins) and the youngest sister, Margaret Grimm.
Once Emery recovered from Polio during his teen years, he became a skilled mechanical engineer and played an integral part in developing medical devices that monitored the heart as well as creating night vision cameras for airplanes in the 60’s-70’s that could develop pictures while still in flight. Also, for many years Emery was a very active member of the Grace Church teaching Sunday School Classes, Bible studies, song leading, teaching AWANA classes (and he often dressed up in character to demonstrate his Bible lesson!) And for a time in the ‘70s he pastored his own church in the Michigan UP before moving back to IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that any gifts be sent to the Berean Grace Church, N665 Co. Hwy. B., Genoa City, WI 53128.
