Visitation for Eugene John Marzelli Jr., 78, of Palatine since 1970, will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Visitation will continue Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service, 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine. The Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Palatine.
Eugene was born February 28, 1937 in White Plains, New York, and he passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife of 42 years by his side, Friday, January 8, 2016.
Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the Military Police at Fort Stewart, Georgia. As a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church he served countless people through his ministry of cooking and self-sacrificing. Also, he was a lifetime member of the Animal Welfare League and he had a passion for rescuing animals. He leaves behind many cats and dogs that were so important to him, and now he is reunited with his beloved Pit Bull, Eleanor.
Beloved husband of Dorothy Ann (nee Grant) Marzelli; loving father of Kimberly (James) Samuels, Gene Marzelli III, Cheri (Bill) Langehennig, Michael (Michelle) Marzelli, Angela Marzelli and Matthew Marzelli; loving grandfather of Ashley Curtin, Sarah Muhl, Derek Muhl, Gianna Marzelli and Gabriella Marzelli; dear son of the late Eugene and Laura (nee Gallo) Marzelli.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the family.
