Eugene S. Burda

Visitation for Eugene S. “Gene” Burda, 85, a 47 year resident of Deer Park, will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 3:00PM until 8:00PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  Funeral Services will be on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00AM also at the funeral home.  The Interment will be private.

Gene Burda was born on November 29, 1929 in Argo, IL the son of the late Joseph and Caroline (nee Stefanski) Burda and passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2015 with his family by his side.

Gene was preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis (Nelson) Burda and is survived by his second wife of 29 years Marie (nee Braghini) Burda; loving father of Anne (Jim) Walker and Joanna (Craig) Smith; step father of Charles (Karen), Walter (Maryann) Swietlik and the late Glen Paul; cherished grandfather of Ethan, Erik and Emily Walker, Olivia and Sydney Smith; step grandfather of Stephanie Swietlik; dear brother of Joseph (Claire) Burda and Mary (Bernard) Samland; also surviving are many nieces and nephews; preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran having served at Ft. Knox during the Korean Conflict and being honorably discharged in 1953.  Gene went on to work for United Airlines retiring with nearly 40 years of service. Gene was an award winning nature photographer in his retirement.
