Falicia C. Slavik, 84, a resident of Arlington Heights, IL, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2022. We will honor and celebrate Falicia on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 909 E Main Street, Barrington, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the church. The Entombment will be private at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary, IL.
Falicia was born in 1938 to Charles and Estelle (Mikosz) Palkoner of Chicago, IL. She was married to the late Kenneth E. Slavik for 52 years. She is survived by her children, Bradley Slavik and Jacalyn Slavik; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Rhiannon Slavik. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Marilyn Muscolino, in April 2022.
Falicia graduated from Northern Illinois University and taught elementary school for several years before becoming a business entrepreneur. In 1976, she founded “Feasting with Falicia” and taught cooking classes throughout the northwest suburbs, and then created “Falicia Tours” which provided day tours to residents and visitors throughout the Chicagoland area. After moving to Hawaii in 1985, she continued with her teaching career as a reading specialist at Kamehameha Schools until her retirement in 2007. Falicia participated in many social activities, including food groups and reading clubs. She was a proud PEO member, and an avid backgammon, chickenfoot, and card player.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Falicia’s name to The Cradle in Evanston, IL.
