Visitation for Genevieve Wiser, 95, will be on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Rd, Lake Zurich. A Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 10:30 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd, Lake Zurich. The Interment will be private.
Genevieve passed away peacefully on June 16, 2015 surrounded by her family.
The only child of Clyde and Nettie (nee Russell) Wright, Genevieve was born in rural Wauconda and raised on farms in the Wauconda and Volo area. She graduated from Wauconda High School. On June 19, 1940, Genevieve married the love of her life, Joseph Wiser, Jr. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Volo. They settled on a farm in Volo raising 5 daughters. Upon Joseph’s death in 1976, she moved to Ringwood, IL until 1993 then residing in Volo and later Hawthorn Woods. She was a housekeeper and did factory work before retiring. She is noted for her beautiful embroidery and crocheting spending hours on pieces to be given away as gifts.
Genevieve is survived by her daughters; Frances (Walter) Lang of Ingleside, Diane (Gerald) Wagner of Spring Grove, Carmel Kay (Harold) Holden of Grayslake, Linda (Bolssens) of Hawthorn Woods and JoAnn (Ralph) Swanson of Port Richey, FL. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wiser, Jr. granddaughters, Joanna Lynn Holden Johnson and Sherry Mann, all her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful nurses from Advocate Hospice #120 for the loving and compassionate care they gave to their mother during her final days.
