Visitation for George R. Valentino, 95, of Palatine formerly of Des Plaines, will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass, 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Home for the Elderly, 80 W. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL60067. Father Tom Rzepiela will officiate. The Interment will be private.
George was born March 24, 1919 on Taylor Street in Chicago, and he passed away April 11, 2014 at the St. Joseph Home for the Elderly, Palatine.
George was a World War II Army Veteran and served in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He was the owner of Valentinos Food Mart, Little Country Market, G&H Restaurant, and the Mug and Grub.
George was the beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Gilliam) Valentino; loving father of Barbara (Gerald) Tax, Linda (late Frank) Strzelecki and George Valentino, Jr.; loving grandfather of Frank (Heather Mitchell) Strzelecki, Patricia (Christopher) Bannister, Lauren Valentino, Christopher Valentino and Patrick Tax; loving great-grandfather of Allie, Erin, Anna and Ella Strzelecki and Wyatt Bannister; dear son of the late Leonard and Albina (nee Zullo) Valentino; fond brother of the late, Anthony (late Pearl), Emanuel (late Susan), Emil (late Marie) and Nicholas; dear brother-in-law of Frances Valentino; and uncle of 14 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to The Little Sisters of the Poor, C/O St. Joseph Home for the Elderly, 80 W. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL60067.
