Gordon Oliver Williams

Visitation for Gordon Oliver Williams, 95, a 64 year resident of Palatine, IL and formerly of Scottville, MI will be held from 3:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Palatine 123 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, on Saturday, October 12, 2013.  The interment will be private.

Gordon was the son of the late Ira Monroe and Laurena (nee Tousley) Williams and passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.

Gordon was a WWII Navy Veteran who served in the South Pacific Theatre during the war.  Prior to retiring in 1996 Gordon had worked for 30 years for Encyclopedia Britannica retiring as director of budget and control.  He was a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Gordon was involved in the Palatine Community and was an active member of the First Untied Methodist Church of Palatine and had formerly served as treasurer of the Palatine Park District.

Beloved husband for 67 years, of Eleanor (nee Steinbrinck) Williams; loving father of Michele (James) Agee and Scott (Catherine) Williams; cherished grandfather of Brianna, Mackenzie and Christine Williams; step grandfather of Meredith (Craig) Rodewald, Robert Agee, William Froelich, Meghan (Brian) Zator, Kathleen (James) Conner and Bridget Froelich; dear brother of the late Betty Bellinger; former father-in-law of Deborah Johnston Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated, in memory of Gordon, for the First United Methodist Church of Palatine, 123 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL60067 or to BlackburnCollege, 700 College Avenue, Carlinville, IL  62626.
