Services and Interment for Quentin “Grant” Pierce, 79, of Kildeer, will be private.
He passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, and was born in Chicago, IL on February 10, 1943.
Grant’s parents moved from Chicago to Wilmette in 1955 where Grant attended New Trier High School. After graduation from college, earning his MBA at the University of Arizona, Grant enlisted in the Air National Guard.
Grant’s business career began at Meister Brau Corporate in the food division. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch Cookie Specialties in 1973. Grant is best remembered as the founder of Matt’s Cookies in 1979. He also acquired Cookie Kingdom in Oglesby, IL in 1985.
When Grant was not in the cookie factory, he would be on his boat on Lake Michigan. His beloved Cookie Cutter was his boat for 32 years. Grant was instrumental as a board member for 12 years in the development of Prairie Harbor Yacht Club. Grant also enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling. He was considered a knowledgeable businessman, an active and loving father, and avid boater, all of which he did with his wife. The Pierces have been members of the Long Grove Community Church for 25 years.
Grant is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judith Sydell Pierce and his son, Quentin “Blake” (Jenelle) Pierce; grandchildren, Matthew “Kyle” Pierce, Connor J. Pierce and Marissa H. Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his parents Quentin D. and Johnetta B. Pierce and his oldest son, Matthew G. Pierce.
