Memorial Visitation for Heinrich Ruppel, 78, of Palatine, will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service, 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine. The Reverend Warren Schilf will officiate. Private inurnment will be held in Union Cemetery, Palatine.
Heinrich was born April 24, 1935 in Germany and he passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
Heinrich was a U.S. Army veteran. He was president of the Schwaebischer Saengerbund for 18 years. In addition to spending time with his family, Henry enjoyed doing various projects around the house and took great pride in his work. He loved to be outside where he built and took care of his beloved Koi pond.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Ruppel (nee Ackermann); children, Ralph (Kimberly) Ruppel and Sonja Ruppel; grandchildren, Jordan Ruppel, Tyler Ruppel and Anja Ruppel; and his sisters, Adele (late Paul) Albrecht, Emma Domolky, Gertrud (Joseph) Gies and Margarete (Hans) Gergen. Heinrich is also survived by his longtime best friends, Heinz and Frieda Krauth.
Heinrich was preceded in death by his parents Reinhold and Karoline (nee Jubin) Ruppel; and his brothers, Otto, Robert and Wilhelm Ruppel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated to Journeycare, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010 or to Schwaebischer Saengerbund of Chicago, 625 Seegers Road, Des Plaines, 60016.
