Hilary L. Ives

Visitation for Hilary L. Ives, 87, formerly of Palatine, will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Inverness. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Hilary was born on June 13, 1937, to Gail and Marie Ives. He passed away at home on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Hilary was the beloved husband of Maria Rosa Ives for 35 years; loving father of Bryant (Shannon) Ives, and Andrew Ives; cherished grandfather of Declan and Mirin Ives; fond brother the late Jim (the late Martha) Ives, the late Gerald (the late Adrian) Ives, the late Orville (the late Bernadette) Ives, the late John (the late Madelyn) Ives, Vera (the late John) Kasel, Gail (Joyce) Ives, and Dennis (Sherry) Ives. He is also the brother-in-law of the late Alberto (Carolina) Indacochea, Cecelia (Jose) Gonzalez, Anita (the late Jorge) Texeira, Jose Luis (Elizabeth) Indacochea, Eduardo Latorre, and Jorge (Sandra) Latorre.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rochi Indacochea.

Hilary was born in Havelock, IA and grew up in Floyd, IA. He attended Iowa State University and received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Administration in 1960. From there, he attended Marquette University where he received his MBA. Hilary enjoyed playing basketball, golf, tennis, tuba, investing, chess, canasta and was an avid reader. Additionally, he enjoyed travelling to South America. Professionally, Hilary was a business technology consultant at McGladrey and then at Honeywell. After that he began teaching at DeVry full time from 1987 until his retirement 20 years later.
