James E. Joern

Visitation for James E. Joern, 59, of Lake Zurich, will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Rd. Lake Zurich. Family and friends will meet on Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd, Huntley, where the Visitation will continue from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. An Interment will follow at Hampshire Center Cemetery, Hampshire.

On Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24, 2018, our brother, Jim peacefully passed away at the age of 59. He was born on August 1, 1959 in Chicago, IL

Jim was a great athlete, breaking records in pole vault in high school and at Oakton Community College where he competed in state. He worked for Joern Concrete for most of his adult life. Jim loved fishing and holds the family Musky record catch. Additionally, he also enjoyed snowmobiling and loved spending time with his family and loved ones. Jim had been courageously battling illness for over 10 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rita Joern; his sister, Susan Meurk. He is survived by siblings, Hope (Scott) Grahl, Henry (Lisa) Joern, Bill (Linda) Joern, Tina Joern and Marie Joern; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
