James V. Smith

Visitation for James V. Smith, 86, of Volo, will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich. The Interment will be in England.

Jim was born on September 26, 1931 in London, England.  He passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018.

Jim was the beloved husband of Geri (nee DiGregorio) for 25 years; loving father of David (Peggy) Smith, Steven (Leslye) Smith, Jane (Adolfo) Munoz; stepfather of Greg (Helena) Kale, Becky Kale, Eric (Lisa) Kale; grandfather of Christian & Addison Smith, Gabriella & Julia Munoz; and step-grandfather of Evan, Hanna, Zachary & Addison Kale. Jim is also survived by his two sisters in England, Christine and Marie; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews in England.

Having grown up in England, Jim was a London Police Officer (Bobby).  He also served in the British Army in Singapore and Malaysia. Jim loved the sea, sailing, English soccer, American baseball and was a collector of police memorabilia.  He will be missed and remembered by many friends and acquaintances, including his friends at the Fox Lake Police Department, especially his good friend Officer Terry Daly.
