Janice M. Van Sant

Visitation for Janice M. Van Sant (nee Murphy), will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service, 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks, Palatine.  The family will have a private burial service at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, later that day.

Jan passed away Thursday March 8, 2018.

Beloved wife of John B. Van Sant, formerly of Barrington, Illinois; loving mother of the late Rev. John (Linda Devitt) Van Sant, Karey (Sue Jolly) Van Sant, and Lisa (Ray Redieske) Van Sant; dear grandmother of Stephanie Van Sant, Malindi (Zach) Van Stanley, Savannah Van Sant, Josh Van Sant and Alan Van Sant; sister to Joann Kear, and the late Ronald Murphy and Wilson Murphy; dear aunt, great aunt, and friend to many.

Jan grew up in Oregon, Ohio, where she graduated from Clay High School.  She met her husband, John, while attending a dance at Devil’s Lake, Ohio, and they were married on April 13, 1957.  Jan and her husband John lived in many different parts of the country before settling in Barrington, Illinois, where she raised their three children.  Jan was active in her church along with a great many benevolent organizations including Meals on Wheels, Golden Branch, Catchpenny, a food pantry, and various Prince of Peace (Palatine) ministries.  She had a tremendous gift of service and was happiest when she was serving others.
