Javier G. Contreras

Visitation for Javier G. Contreras, 69, of Melrose Park formerly of Chicago, IL will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.  The Funeral Service will begin Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, Palatine.  The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Javier was born January 12, 1953, in Michoacan, Mexico, and was welcomed to God’s Kingdom peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, surrounded by his children.

Javier was the beloved husband of Laura A. Contreras (nee Hidalgo Criollo); loving father of Lorena Cerda, Monica (Rob) Wittenauer, Veronica Soto and Javier Contreras; loving grandfather of Nick, Elissa, Jackie, Efren, Mia Bella, Henry, Ellie, and Aidan; great-grandfather of Juliana; dear son of the late Placido and Maria (Godinez) Contreras; fond brother of Raul, Estela, Jesus, Alfredo, Eva, Adan, and Maria Elena

Javier loved being outdoors.  His children’s fondest memories included his passion for gardening (the best front yard on the block), fishing and BBQ gatherings with his friends (compadres).  He enjoyed playing a good game of dominos and let’s not forget that good ole Mexican card game of Lotteria!
