Jo Ann Sergott

Visitation for Jo Ann Sergott, 93, will be held at St. Joseph Home, 80 W. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM, with the rosary being said at 4:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Home March 26, 2025, at 11:00 am. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Interment will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, MI, at a later date.

Jo Ann passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Palatine, IL. She was born in Arlington, Iowa, on October 7, 1931, and raised near Strawberry Point, IA.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray H. Sergott, and her oldest child, Michael.

Ray and Jo Ann raised a large Catholic family of seven children in Livonia, MI. They were devoted to God, each other, and their children. They modeled the Catholic faith to their children throughout their lives. In her later years, Jo Ann moved to Palatine, IL to live with the Little Sisters of the Poor, where she made a profound impact on the elderly residents who lived there, the sisters who served there, and upon many friends and extended family who knew her. Her family is grateful to the Sisters for their care and devotion to Jo Ann over the 16 years that she was a resident.

She is survived by her children, Kay Kociuba, Mary Pancoe, Anne Penteris, Fr. Joseph, Ted, and Fr. Larry.

She is also survived by her siblings, Catherine Hoppenworth, Neil Michael and Robert; and her many nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Whittle; her siblings, Joseph John, Mary Carolyn, James Patrick and Lawrence.
