Joanne L. Nicholson

Visitation for Joanne L. Nicholson, 78, of Hoffman Estates, will be held Monday, October 15, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Visitation will continue Tuesday, October 16th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service, 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine. The Reverend Warren Schilf will officiate. The Interment will be private.

Joanne was born May 7, 1940 in Chicago, and passed away at home October 11, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Joanne was the beloved wife of Richard “Nick” Nicholson; loving mother of Paul (Jean Merz) Nicholson, Kimera (Karl) Koenemann and Kathy Pitts; loving grandmother of J.D. (Amanda), Carl (Megan), Michael, Ashley, Stephanie (Mack), Abbey, Joslyn, and Nicholas; loving great-grandmother of Olivia, Liam and Kali; dear daughter of the late Paul and Florence (nee Thompson) Specialle; sister of Frances (Ron) Fleck and the late Paul Specialle.

Joanne was blessed with many loving friends and 47 years of marriage to Nick. Although we will miss her, Joanne’s strength and spirit live on each day in her children and grandchildren. She was truly a blessing to her family, friends, and those she met along the way as she established successful careers in both retail and real estate sales.
