John Burson Jr,

Visitation for John Burson Jr., 85, of Lake Zurich, will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich.  The Internment will be private.

John passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He was the beloved husband of Victoria Burson for 57 years; loving father of Ruth (John) Di Legge and John (Jean) Burson; dear grandfather of Nolan and Anna Burson and Nathan Di Legge.

John was preceded in Eternal Rest by his parents; John and Rebecca Burson, his sister Mary and his brother Emil.

As a young man, John served in the army where he spent two years in Germany.  After he left the army he met the love of his life, Victoria.  They married and he began his teaching career at Wilbur Wright Middle School in Munster IN as a Math teacher.  After a few years he found a job at Indiana University NW where he worked for 30 years.  Upon retirement, John was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash for his contributions to the Northwest Indiana area.  He was also named an honorary State Representative in Indiana.  John also belonged to other local clubs, including Kiwanis.

John was an avid reader, especially of science, and enjoyed the outdoors and nature.
