John A. Konko

Memorial Visitation for John “Jack” A. Konko, 90, of Hawthorn Woods, will be held from 1:00 PM until the Time of Remembrances at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. A private Inurnment will be held at Benld Cemetery in Benld, Illinois.

Jack was born on July 15, 1934, in Hannibal, Missouri to Daniel and Johanna Konko. He passed away at home on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Jack was the beloved husband of 54 years to the late, Elaine M. Konko, loving father of, and survived by, Daniel Konko and Elisa (Robert) Zagorski.

Jack earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, followed by a MSW graduate degree from Florida State University in 1963. He spent his career as a social worker at Hersey High School, retiring in 1994. While at Hersey High School, Jack met his long-time friends Don and John, who he enjoyed spending time camping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. There were many stories and much laughter shared together. Jack had a passion for softball and spent many years known as Coach Konko. His mentorship and love for the game will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Konko and sister, Joey Rittenhouse.
