John R. Vanderwiel Sr.

Visitation for John R. Vanderwiel Sr., 83, of Palatine will be from 4:00pm to 9:00pm on Wednesdsay, September 4, 2013 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy.  Palatine.  Prayers will be said at 9:30am on Thursday at the funeral home proceeding to St. Theresa Church, 455 N. Benton St., Palatine for a Mass at 10:00am.  The interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

John, a Marine Corp Veteran, was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, on the board for United Way in Palatine and volunteered at St. Joseph Home.

He was the beloved husband of the late Pat; father of Jack (Sue), Vicky (Eric) Larson and David; grandfather of Nicole (Brandon) Henderson, Travis, Matthew, Adam and Josh; great grandfather of  Noah, Elliana and Isiah; brother of  Ed, and the late Corny, Skip and Anne Schwall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 800 Marshall St., Little Rock, AR 72202-3591.
