John S. Ross

John was born in Detroit, Michigan May 4, 1940 to Stanley and Nora (nee Huntly) Ross, and passed away March 5, 2021 in Arlington Heights, Illinois.  He was raised in Birmingham, Michigan.  The family moved to a Washington Township, Michigan Dairy Farm when John was in Jr. High.  He graduated from Romeo High School in 1958. He went on to get his Bachelor of Science in science at Michigan State University.  John worked for the Atomic Energy Commission doing mobile science seminars/assemblies in Michigan Schools.  He also was a teacher for a time, and worked in Wichita and Seattle, Washington.

John is survived by his long time significant other, Dorothy Benish; sisters, Mary (Doug) Shepard, Beach Park, Illinois, Janice Ross, Washington, Michigan; brother, Robert Ross, Washington, Michigan; niece, Tera (Scott) Blauwkamp; nephew, Eric (Tracy) Shepard; and 5 grand-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the charity of one’s choice.

John was a thinker and loved to learn new things.  He square danced for many years.
