Visitation for John (Jack) Vlcek, 91, a longtime resident of Palatine, will be on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, from 9:30 AM until the time of the Service at 12:30 PM. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, IL.
Jack passed away quietly at his home on January 29, 2019.
Jack for many years worked as an electrotyper for Hall Printing Co. in Chicago and more recently for the Rolling Meadows Park District. Jack was an avid golfer and belonged to the Palatine Hills Golf Association. Prior to that Jack served in the US Army as a Technical Sergeant in Japan from 1948-50. He enjoyed spending time with his family, tending to his garden, and watching the White Sox. He also enjoyed road trips and an occasional trip to Las Vegas. Jack loved to meet new people and strike up a lively conversation.
He is survived by his children John Vlcek, Ron Vlcek, Tom (Margie) Vlcek, Jim (Laurie) Vlcek, and Karen (Jeff) Murrill. Jack had 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Don Vlcek. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Melvin Vlcek and Jerome Vlcek.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn (nee Harks) of 32 years.
