Joe was born on December 1, 1998, the son of David and Karen Gorman. He passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Joe grew up in Palatine, Illinois in an Irish Catholic family with 3 brothers. Joe was the middle of the 3 physically, literally and figuratively whether it was sports, music, get togethers or whatever they dreamed up. Playing baseball, soccer, basketball, and even a little football, Joe played it all. Excelling in the Palatine school system and graduating from Fremd on the Dean's list, Joe took an offer to play baseball with Coaches Brad Unger and Rodney Lopez at Waubonsee Junior College. He absolutely loved playing baseball, especially at the college level. Joe went on to pursue his academic studies at the University of Illinois, Champaign IL, received a bachelors degree in Community Health. After graduating, Joe secured a position as a case manager at the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. He helped families and individuals with epilepsy and getting them the resources they needed.
Joe also had a very close relationship to God and looked forward to his religious time at Holy Family every week. Joe developed content for a Kairos weekend during his Senior year where he was a retreat leader and spread the word of God to his peers.
As a brother, he was always up for an adventure with Mike and Sean whether it be road trips, mountain hikes or the hole in the wall down the street. Always the instigator, shenanigans typically followed when getting together with his brothers. It was not uncommon for Joe to meet his brothers up on the roof with a boom box for casual socializing.
As a son, he was an old soul and just an outstanding young man. We could not be more proud of his many accomplishments and passions. He brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. And you never knew what was behind that smirk on his face. We will keep his memories in our hearts, always.
Joe is survived by his parents, David and Karen (nee Keenan) Gorman; and brothers, Mike and Sean Gorman.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Jeane Gorman; maternal grandparents, Owen and Lee Keenan; and his uncle, Kevin Keenan.
