Services and Interment for Joseph P. Mikusa will be private. Due to the Covid virus, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Joseph was born December 25, 1965, and passed away on January 27, 2021.
He is survived by his wife Kelly Doyle; daughter Jane Mikusa of Bristol, Virginia; step-sons Max and William Larson; parents Mary and Jack Mikusa; brother Jerry Mikusa, sister Margie (Brian) Smith and brother Randy (Megan) Mikusa and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a 1984 graduate of Lake Zurich High School and a 1988 graduate of Illinois State University. He was employed at Abbott/Abbvie Labs for 28 years in Neuroscience. Joe loved and excelled at his work of research and testing of the new drugs to treat neurological disease and through hard work and dedication rose to the position of Senior Scientist.
To his wife, his parents and his siblings, Joe was a generous, compassionate and kind man with a smile and laugh that would light up a room. When Joe loved, he loved with his whole heart and you would feel it every day. Through his awards and interest in health and fitness, he was able to inspire others to improve their own health and well being. To his daughter, Joe was a father who always made any scary, or tough situation seem to disappear, and make the happiest of times more extravagant and exciting than they were to begin with. He was inspiring in his almost magical way of excelling at nearly every athletic activity, ability to play beautiful music by ear and creating beautiful and thoughtful works of art for people he loved. His gentle and selfless nature was evident in his kindness towards people and his love for all animals. Joseph and his daughter’s favorite things to do together were visiting the beach in Clearwater, Florida, watching and attending Chicago White Sox games, fishing in Lake Zurich and spending time with their beloved dog, Belle.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated in Joseph’s name, to ASPCA and/or the White Sox Charities foundations.
