Joseph P. O’Connor

Visitation for Joseph Patrick O’Connor, 96, of Schaumburg will be from 4:00pm to 9:00pm on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00am on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 755 S. Benton St., Palatine.  The Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, also in Palatine.

He was born on May 16, 1919 in Chicago and passed away at his home, of natural causes, while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 8, 2015.

Joseph married Rochelle Frances  (nee Fulbright) of Cleveland, TN on July 18, 1945 until her passing on October 22, 1995.  He was the father of Robert J. (Sophie M.) and Judith L. Fritsche; son of the late Patrick J. and Hanna O’Connor (nee Lynch) both of County Kerry, Ireland.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from February 1943 t– February 1946 and was honorably discharged at rank of Sargent.  Joseph graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago and attended DePaul University, Chicago, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN and University of Illinois.  Joseph was employed for 43 years at Bell Systems (Indiana Bell, AT&T and Illinois Bell) where he started as a Splicer’s Helper and retired from Illinois Bell in Arlington Heights in May 1981 as District Manager Construction/Maintenance – West.
