A celebration of Judith Diane Hurlburt (nee Smith’s) life will be held at a later date.
Judy died on June 9, 2017. Born February 29, 1944, she was 73, but Alzheimer’s took her years ago.
A voracious reader, lover of nature, Judy will be remembered for her infectious laugh and sense of humor. She had a larger than life personality and “Grandy” as she was known to her grandkids, was always ready for an adventure and would talk of what she wanted to do or see with them when they got older. She lived her life like “Auntie Mame” and was a firm believer in the quote “Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death”!
Some of her greatest joys were the times she spent in Wyoming; riding, camping, dancing and spending time with friends and her daughters. We hope she is now enjoying eternity according to the lyrics of one of her favorite songs “Don’t Fence Me In”.
Judy is survived by her two daughters, Amy (John) Wierzbicki of Chester, NJ and Jennifer (Mark) Mueller of Lake Zurich, IL; her four grandkids, Katherine, Zachary, Melissa and Jessica. She was predeceased by her parents, Col. Arnold and Evelyn Smith, and her sister Gail Elrod.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60631 or Walk on Farm, 26665 W. Cuba Road, Barrington, IL 60010 would be appreciated.
We are hopeful that Judith Hurlburt knows who Judith Hurlburt is again.
